Program Overview
Adaptive hockey opportunities that build confidence, friendships, and unforgettable experiences.
Experience the Excitement of Sled Hockey
Sled hockey combines the speed, competition, teamwork, and excitement of traditional ice hockey with adaptive equipment that makes the sport accessible to individuals with physical disabilities.
Whether you’re looking to learn a new sport, stay active, compete with teammates, or simply have fun on the ice, sled hockey provides an opportunity to challenge yourself while being part of a supportive and welcoming team.
Through our partnership with the STAR Center and the Coulee Region FROST Sled Hockey Team, participants of all ages and skill levels are invited to discover one of the fastest-growing adaptive sports in the country.
In Partnership with STAR
The Sled Hockey Program is operated by the STAR Center through the Coulee Region FROST Sled Hockey Team, with support from n.a.s.a.
The program has become a cornerstone of adaptive sports in the Coulee Region and was one of the programs that helped inspire the creation and growth of the STAR Center.
Together, we help provide equipment, volunteer support, and opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to participate in a true team sport.
What Is Sled Hockey?
Sled hockey (also known as para ice hockey) follows most of the same rules as traditional hockey.
Players sit in specially designed sleds positioned on two skate blades and use two sticks to propel themselves across the ice, pass, shoot, and compete. The sport is played at the recreational, competitive, national, and Paralympic levels.
No prior hockey experience is required.
