Program Overview
The Adaptive Snow Skiing Program offers inclusive opportunities for individuals to experience the excitement of downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as snow tubing. Through partnerships with Mt. La Crosse, Whitetail Ridge, and the La Crosse Area Family YMCA, the program delivers accessible winter sports in a supportive environment. All equipment, safety gear, trained instructors, and lift tickets are provided, ensuring that participants only need to bring their enthusiasm.
Two locations—Mt. La Crosse and Whitetail Ridge—are available for adaptive skiing and tubing. Specialized equipment for both sit skiing and stand-up skiing, as well as adaptive cross-country sit skis, helmets, goggles, and action track chairs for transportation, are supplied. The program covers all costs for lessons, equipment, and passes, making participation accessible to everyone.
At Mt. La Crosse, participants can take advantage of private lessons with the ski school or join group ski events organized in partnership with the YMCA. Whitetail Ridge offers downhill skiing lessons, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, and snow tubing with convenient access via a magic carpet ride. Instructors are provided for downhill skiing, while cross-country skiing and tubing are self-guided, with equipment and passes covered by the program.
