What: An all-abilities accessible park for the Holmen community. The park will be for all children, but designed especially for those who are physically challenged.
Why: The
overwhelming response that n.a.s.a.’s Inclusive Park at Butts
Park in Tomah has shown that there is a need in the
Holmen/Onalaska area. There are currently less than 10
accessible playgrounds in the state of Wisconsin.
Where:
The park will be located in the Remington Hills Park in Holmen,
WI. This location was chosen for its level terrain, adequate
parking, existing infrastructure, and location within the
village.
Who: N.a.s.a. is raising funds to purchase the
specialized equipment and play surface and partnering with the
Village of Holmen for the land and to maintain it as a public
park.
When: As soon as we can reach the $300,000 needed
for the project. Our goal is the summer of 2024.
Special playground equipment
designed for physically challenged children and a unique surface
that allows wheelchair access.
This surface also provides
cushioning in the event of a fall. Approximately half of the
cost of the playground will go into the poured surface.
